Scientific Description:

Annual herb, stems 312 cm, the whole plant with a dense indumentum of short crisped hairs. Lowermost leaves orbicular, the rest oblong-spathulate, all crenately lobed. Stipules pinnatipartite, with an oblong-spathulate, crenately lobed, petiolate terminal segment, and smaller lateral segments. Peduncle bibracteolate just below the flowers. Sepals lanceolate. Corolla creamy-white to yellow, with a yellow centre, the lowermost petal 58 mm.

 

Flowering time: March−June.

Habitat: Stony slopes, screes, macchie, banks, etc., s.l.−1800 m.

Public Description:

Viola kitaibeliana, commonly known as “dwarf pansy”, is native to Africa, Asia and Europe. It is an annual herbs with creamy-white to yellow flowers, and grows up to 12 cm in length. It blooms between March and June and is found in stony slopes, screes, macchie, and banks.
