Scientific Description:
Stem 20−25 cm, winged, especially half way up, with stellate hairs on the wings. Basal leaves 2−3-pinnate/ternate; ultimate segments 0.5−1.8 × 0.5−1.2 cm, cuneate to ovate, crenate. Upper stem leaves alternate, simple, broadly ovate with truncate or cordate base, up to 10 × 8 cm, crenate-serrate. Umbels (4−)7−14-rayed; rays shortly hairy. Mericarps c. 4 × 3 mm; dorsal ridges obscure.
Flowering time: May−June.
Habitat: Amongst bushes, forest margins, 250−2000 m.

Public Description:
Smyrnium perfoliatum, commonly known as “sarıkörek” in Turkish, is native to Europe, Türkiye, West Syria and Crimea. It is a biennial plant with yellow flowers and winged stems, and grows up to 25 cm in length. It blooms between May and June, and is found in amongst bushes and forest margins.
