SMYRNIUM(L.) Caddick & Wilkin - YABANİKEREVİZ (in Turkish)
Scientific Description:
Biennials with a fusiform taproot not crowned by a fibrous collar. Basal leaves 2−4-ternate-pinnate. Upper leaves alternate or opposite. Inflorescence muchbranched; bracts and bracteoles usually absent. Flowers hermaphrodite; sepals obsolete; petals yellow. Fruit ± ovoid. Mericarps subdidymous, curved from apex to base, dark brown to black; three dorsal ridges ± prominent; valleculae and commissures multivittate.

Public Description:
Smyrnium, is a genus of biennial herbs, commonly known as “yabanikereviz” in Turkish, and is native to Mediterranean and Europe. There are 9 species in the world and 7 species (7 taxa) in Türkiye. They have yellow flowers and fusiform taproots.
