Public Description:

Rumex acetosella, commonly known as “common sheep sorrel” or “ sheep dock”, is native to Eurasia and the British Isles, but it has been introduced to most of the rest of the Northern Hemisphere. It is a perennial weed with arrow-shaped leaves and red-tinted deeply ridged stems. The usually inconspicuous flowers are carried above the leaves in clusters. Since the leaves have a lemony, tangy or nicely tart flavor, they are edible as a salad or vegetable.
