Public Description:
Rumex, commonly known as “Dock” or “Sorrel”, consists of annual, biennial and perennial, and is native to Northern Hemisphere, but various species have been introduced almost everywhere. There are approximately 152 species in the world and 36 species (52 taxa) in Türkiye. The usually inconspicuous flowers are carried above the leaves in clusters. The leaves of the " sheep's sorrel (Rumex acetosella L.)" and “common sorrel (Rumex acetosa L.)” are eaten as salad or leaf vegetables. On the other hand, pollen grains of the dock is a great potential cause of seasonal allergies.
