Scientific Description:
Annual. Stems ascending to erect, pilose with simple setae and some stellate hairs. Leaves ± orbicular, very shallowly lobed, crenate, pilose. Flowers borne in fascicles in the leaf axils. Epicalyx segments linear. Sepals broadly triangular, 2−4 mm. Petals hairy at the base, pink to white, 8−14 mm. Mericarps pilose, smooth, adjacent margins smooth.
Flowering time: May−August.
Habitat: Steppe, fields, roadsides, waste places, s.l.−2000 m.

Public Description:
Malva neglecta, known as “common mallow”, is distributed in most of Europe, including Britain, south and east to North Africa and Asia. It is an spreading annual plant with pink or white color flowers. It blooms between May and August and is found in steppe, fields, roadsides and waste places. In Anatolia, some mallow species are gathered and cooked like spinach.
