Scientific Description:

Similar to Euphorbia macroclada Boiss. (especially var. lasiocarpa), but caespitose; cauline leaves usually ± oblong, obtuse; glands truncate; cyathial lobes glabrous or ciliate, slightly smaller (34 mm diam.); fruits often densely pilose.

Stems usually few, ± erect, robust, usually exceeding 20 cm.

 

Flowering Time: May−August.

Habitat: Pinus nigra L. forest, scrub, steppe, limestone pavement, streamsides, s.l. 1800 m.

Euphorbia pannonica, commonly known as “Macar sütleğeni in Turkish”, naturally grows in Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Türkiye, the Caucasus and Southern Russia. It is a perennial, herbaceous plant with greenish-yellow flowers, and usually exceeding 20 cm. It blooms between May and August, is found in black pine (Pinus nigra L.) forest, scrub, steppe, limestone pavement, streamsides.
