Public Description:

Native range of Chenopodium album, known as whitegoosefoot”and “lamb's quarters”, is obscuredue to extensive cultivation all over the world. However, it is believed that its origins are based on Asia and Europe. It is an annual herbaceous plant with small flowers, up to 150 cm in length. It blooms between May and August and is found waste places and cultivated land. The white goosefoot is regarded as a field weed or invader in Europe and North America when it is grown in some parts of Asia and Africa as a substitute for spinach or as an animal feed plant. Some goosefoot seeds, such as quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) and kaniwa (Chenopodium pallidicaule Aellen), which are very popular in recent years and blended into grains, gluten-free and have high protein and fiber content, are obtained from species that are related to "Chenopodium album L." in the same genus. Many Chenopodium L. species, especially white goosefoot, produce abundant allergen pollen, which can cause an allergic effect on many people and cause hay fever.
