Public Description:
Chenopodium is a genus of annual or perennial herbs known as “goosefoot”, and it spreads almost everywhere in the world. There are approximately 150 species in the world and 15 species (19 taxa) in Türkiye. Some goosefootseeds, such as quinoa (Chenopodium quinoaWilld.) and kaniwa (Chenopodium pallidicauleAellen), are very popular in recent years and blended into grains, gluten-free and have high protein and fiber content. Many species, especially white goosefoot (Chenopodium album L.), produce abundant allergen pollen, which can cause an allergic effect on many people and cause hay fever. In addition, many seeds are plants that are struggled as field weeds due to their seeds that can survive for years in the soil, and at the same time some of them are invasive species.
