Scientific Description:

Stems erect or ascending-erect, branched, sparsely spreading- or retrorsely-setose or almost glabrous. Leaves sparsely setose to glabrous. Petals white or pinkish, 1−2 mm. Fruit 8−11 mm; lateral primary ridges with short, crisped hairs; 3 dorsal primary ridges with small spines with broadened bases; secondary ridges with longer spines, broadened at the base but scarcely confluent.

Flowering time: May−August.

Habitat: Fields, slopes, roadsides, waste places, s.l.−2200m.

Public Description:

Caucalis platycarpos, known as “small bur parsley” or “carrot bur parsley”, is native to Europe, North Africa, Middle East and Iran. It is an annual herb with umbel-like white or pinkish flowers. It blooms between May and August and is found in fields, slopes, roadsides and waste places. This plant is used for the treatment of some malignant tumors due to various antioxidants in its contents.
