Scientific Description:

Glabrous perennial. Stem erect, 40−70(−80) cm, simple, ± striate. Basal leaves lanceolate to oblong-obovate, crenulate-dentate, obtuse or acute, attenuate into 7−12 cm petiole; cauline linear-lanceolate, acuminate, 7−10(−15) × 0.3−0.6(−l) cm, sessile. Inflorescence of few axillary or terminal, shortly (−15 mm) pedicellate, slightly drooping flowers. Ovary obconical, 4−5 mm, glabrous or rarely setulose. Calyx lobes lanceolate, acute, 10 × 3−4 mm, spreading-erect, persistent, erect in fruit, glabrous. Corolla broadly campanulate, (3−)4−5 cm, 5 cm diam., divided to| into short broadly triangular lobes, glabrous, blue, rarely white. Style as long as corolla. Stigmas 3, ½ as long as style. Capsule erect, ovoid-obconical, 7 × 4 mm, glabrous or rarely setulose, opening by 3 ± apical pores. Seeds ovoid, 1 × 0.5 mm, and brown, shiny.

 

Flowering time: June−August.

Habitat: Meadows, forest clearings and margins, 10−2000 m.

Public Description:

Campanula persicifolia, common name “peach-leaved bellflower”, is common in the Alps and other mountain ranges in Europe. These plants, which have a length of approximately 1 meter, are perennial and herbaceous. Its flowers are cup-shaped and can be either lilac-blue or white. Its foliage is narrow and glossy with a bright green appearance. They can be seen in grassland and forest openings in summer. In cultivation, numerous varieties and cultivars have been developed in a range of colours including white, blue, pink and purple.
