Public Description:

Buglossoides purpurocaerulea, common name “purple gromwell”, is widespread in British Isles, the central Europe up to South Russia and Mediterranean countries from Spain to the eastern Türkiye. This plant is herbaceous, rhizomatous perennial plant. The Latin name of the species “purpurocaeruleum” means purple and blue, referred to the changing colour of the flowers with the progress of flowering.  This species especially spreads in dry and warm forests with sparse deciduous vegetation and prefers calcareous soils rich in humus.
