Scientific Description:

Annual, setulose to strigulose herbs. Stem simple or much-branched, leafy. Cymes terminal, bracteate. Calyx divided almost to base, ± strongly accrescent in fruit. Corolla white or pale to dark blue, rarely purplish; faucal scales absent, throat with 5 longitudinal bands of hairs. Filaments inserted below middle of tube, anthers included. Nutlets ± pyriform in lateral outline but with ± incurved beak, depressed-pyriform in dorsal view, with ± bigibbous shoulders in lower half and laterally compressed beak, with strong dorsal and ventral keel in upper half, tuberculate-rugose to scrobiculate.

Public Description:

Buglossoides is a genus of annual and perennial herbs commonly known as “corn-gromwell”, is native to Europe and Asia. There are approximately 11 species in the word and 4 species (4 taxa) in Türkiye. These plants have blue or white small funnel-shaped flowers and are covered in fine bristles or hairs. They grow naturally in habitats ranging from sunny scrub to rocky slopes and woodland areas.
