Agrostemma githago L. - Common Corn-cockle
Scientific Description:
Stems erect, 45−70 cm, spreading-pilose, rather strictly branched. Leaves lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, the median stem leaves 5−7 mm wide at the base, all pilose. Calyx tube spreading-pilose, strongly ribbed, 15−18(−20) mm; teeth (15−)20−35 × 2−3 mm. Petals whitish to violet-red, 30−35(−40) mm, exceeded by the calyx teeth.
Flowering time: April−July.
Habitat: Fields, often in corn, s.l.−1750 m.

Public Description:
Agrostemma githago, known as “common corn-cockle”, is present in many parts of the temperate world. The Common corn-cockle is an annual plant with flowers that have whitish to lavender purple-red colors and can reach up to 70 cm in length. It blooms between April and July and is found in fields, often in corn. The seed and leaves are poisonous, containing saponin-like substances.
