AGROSTEMMA L. - CORNCOCKLE
Scientific Description:
Tall annual herbs. Flowers large, showy, in lax dichasia. Calyx tube strongly 10-ribbed; teeth foliaceous, almost as long as to longer than the tube. Stamens 10. Styles 5, alternating with the sepals. Capsule opening by 5 simple teeth.

Public Description:
Agrostemma is a genus of annual plants commonly known as “corncockles”. It has 2 species (2 taxa) in Türkiye and in the world. They are tall plants with large flowers. It is probably the eastern mediterranean weeds of cereals and other agricultural fields. Nowadays, seed cleaning methods spread in agricultural areas and therefore the areas occupied by these plants have decreased in the world.
