Scientific Description:

Shrubs or rarely perennial herbs. Stems usually prickly, the flowering shoots usually borne on the long, woody, vegetative shoots (turions) of the previous year's growth. Inflorescence paniculate. Sepals 5, without an epicalyx. Petals 5. Stamens many, borne on a narrow perigynous zone. Torus domed, bearing few−many 1-ovuled carpels developing into fleshy, 1-seeded black or red drupelets.

Public Description:

Rubus, is a genus of shrubs or perennial herbs, commonly known as “blackberry”, and is native to throughout Europe, northwestern Africa, temperate western and central Asia and North and South America. There are approximately 1494 species in the world and 16 species (19 taxa) in Türkiye. Blackberry fruit can be consumed as raw, and it is widely used in desserts, jams and jellies. They are notable for their significant contents of dietary fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin K.
