Public Description:

Pyracantha, is a genus of thorny everygreen shrubs, commonly known as “firethorn” or “pyracantha”, and is native to an area extending from Southwest Europe east to Southeast Asia. There are 11 species in the world and 2 species (2 taxa) in Türkiye. They have small white or creamy flowers and decorative fruits. The thorns of these plants are easily able to penetrate human skin and cause a mild inflammation and severe pain. Because of these properties, they are used for gardening or security purposes on garden borders.
