Scientific Description:
Tubers undivided, fusiform, tapering. Stem with 2(−3) large leaves at base. Spike cylindrical, usually lax, with white or pale green flowers. Lateral sepals spreading, dorsal erect, broader, convergent with petals to form a loose hood, bent over the column. Labellum entire, strap-shaped or ligulate, with a long slender spur. Column small; anther cells parallel or diverging downwards; pollinia with caudicles attached to naked viscid discs; pouch (bursicula) absent. Ovary cylindrical-fusiform, curved towards apex, sessile, to 15(−20) mm, twisted, glabrous.

Public Description:
Platanthera, known as “bog orchid”, is distributed in the temperate zones of North America, Europe, Asia, and North Africa; a few species can be found in tropical habitats. There are approximately 152 species in the world and 4 species (4 taxa) in Türkiye. It is a perennial herb which has orange, purple, white, green, or yellow in color flower. They grow in a wide variety of habitats, from forests woodlands to open clearings to wetland habitats like marshes.
