Scientific Description:
Glabrous or hispid biennials or perennials; rootstock thick or thin; fibrous collar absent. Basal and lower leaves 1−2-pinnate, ultimate segments simple or pinnatisect. Upper stem leaves much reduced. Umbels terminal or axillary, 3−30-rayed. Bracts and bracteoles absent, 1−2, caducous, or 1−7, persistent, linear to lanceolate. Sepals absent. Petals whitish-red to yellow, equal. Fruit ± orbicular to obovate, strongly compressed dorsally, glabrous to hispid; dorsal ridges prominent, not winged; lateral ridges narrowly winged, not thickened; valleculae 1-vittate, vittae broad.

Public Description:
Pastinaca is a genus of biennial or perennial herbs, known as “parsnip”. There are 5 species in the world and 1 species (1 taxon) in Türkiye. The economically most important member of this genus is “ parsnip (Pastinaca sativa L.)”. They have whitish-red to yellow flowers.
