Scientific Description:

Differs from Viola odorata L. in its broadly lanceolate, distinctly fimbriate stipules, ovate-cordate leaves, and light blue-violet flowers with a white centre. Stolons mostly underground.

 

Flowering time: April–May

Habitat: Open in shady places and in forest.

Public Description:

Viola suavis, commonly known as “akgöz menekşe” in Turkish, is native to Türkiye and Europe. It is a perennial herb with light blue-violet flowers, and grows up to 12 cm in length. It blooms between April and May and is found often in shady places.
