Neotinea tridentata(Scop.) R.M.Bateman, Pridgeon & M.W.Chase (= Orchis tridentata Scrop.) - Three-toothed Orchid
Scientific Description:
Plant 15–45 cm, with 3–4 ovate to lanceolate leaves near base and a few amplexicaul sheaths above. Spike globose to ovoid, ± densely flowered, flowers rose. Sepals connivent, acuminate, veined dark red. Labellum whitish-rose with darker purple dots, papillose, 3-lobed; lateral lobes falcately directed forwards, truncate, dentate; middle lobe exceeding lateral lobes, cuneate, shallowly notched or bilobed with diverging denticulate lobules, sometimes with a minute tooth between. Spur cylindrical, shorter than ovary, descending.
Flowering time: April−May.
Habitat: Grassy places, macchie, scrub, s.l.−1600 m.

Public Description:
Neotinea tridentata, common name “three-toothed orchid”, is distributed in southern Europe from Spain to Turkey and Lebanon; northwards to the Crimea, Poland and Germany. It is a tuberous perennial herb grows up to 45 cm in height and has rose flowers. The three-toothed orchid is found in grassy places, woodland, scrub and maquis and blooms from April to May.
