Lysimachia atropurpureaL. - Purple gooseneck loosestrife
Scientific Description:
Erect annual, 20−65 cm, ± densely glandular-hairy. Leaves alternate, sessile; lamina 30−110 × 4−15 mm, lanceolate-linear or ± spathulate, dotted with reddish glands, margin undulate or not. Flowers sessile, in terminal spike. Bracts 2.5−5.5 mm. Calyx lobes linear-lanceolate, glandular-hairy, dotted with reddish glands, 3.2–7.5 × 1.1−1.5 mm. Corolla dark purple, glabrous; lobes oblong spathulate, 5.5−7.5 × 1.3−1.6 mm. Stamens much longer than corolla. Capsule 4−5 mm, glabrous, dotted with reddish glands.
Flowering time: May−October.
Habitat: Macchie, open rocky places, fields, roadsides, s.l.−1000 m.

Public Description:
Lysimachia atropurpurea, commonly known as “purple gooseneck loosestrife”, spreads in Balkans and West Anatolia. It is an annual herbaceous plant that can grow up to 65 cm in height. The sessile leaves are arranged alternately on the stem and the dark purple flowers are spike on the apex. It blooms between May and October and is found in macchie, open rocky places, fields and roadsides. It is used as a cut flower in floriculture.
