Scientific Description:

Slender 7−35 cm annual. Leaves alternate, linear, smooth, 1−1.5(−2) cm. Cyme delicate, lax, flowers often shortly pedicellate. Sepals ovate, narrowly acuminate, glandular-margined, 2.5−3.5 mm. Petals 3.5−4.5 mm, coherent, yellow. Capsule 2 mm.

 

Flowering time: April−May.

Habitat: Scrub and open grassy places, s.l.−750 m.

Public Description:

Linum trigynum, known as “French flax”, is native to Türkiye, Southern Europe, North Africa, Western Syria, Cyprus, and Northern Iran. It is a slender annual plant with yellow flowers, and grows up to 35 cm in length. It blooms between April and May and is found in scrub and open grassy places.
