Scientific Description:
Taprooted perennial. Indumentum of coarse 2−4-forked hairs. Stems 9−50 cm, simple and sparsely bracteate or sparingly branched and leafy, not swollen beneath capitulum. Leaves 5−18 × 1−1.7 cm, oblanceolate in outline, acute at apex and tapering at base, sinuate-dentate to pinnatilobed, hispid. Involucre hemispherical, 10−20 mm long; phyllaries pluriseriate, linear-acute to acuminate, ± regularly imbricate, outer ciliate-pectinate and dorsally glabrous, pubescent or densely setose. Achenes beaked, all pappose. Pappus dirty white, of 15−42 hairs.
Flowering time: May−August.
Habitat: Forest, rocky limestone slopes, steppe, 250−2900 m.

Public Description:
Leontodon crispus subsp. asper, known as “hawkbit”, is distributed in Southeast Europe, Southwest Russia, Crimea, Türkiye and Caucasica. It is a perennial plant with yellow flowers, and grows up to 50 cm in length. It blooms between May and August and is found in forest, rocky limestone slopes and steppe.
