Knautia degenii L. - Yaban Eşekkulağı (in Turkish)
Scientific Description:
Erect annual with pubescent and setose stems, reflexed-setose below, spreading setose above, 20−40 cm tall. Lower leaves lanceolate, entire or dentate; upper leaves pinnatisect. Peduncles becoming glandular-hairy towards top. Involucral bracts 10−15, narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, prominently nerved, glandular hairy and pilose. Capitula 0.5−2 cm diam, few-flowered, radiant, outer flowers with lanceolate petals; corolla purple-violet or bluish. Involucel 4.5−5 mm, sparsely pilose, apex with several short teeth. Calyx with numerous fine hair-like setae.
Flowering time: May−July.
Habitat: Fields and roadsides, below 400 m.

Public Description:
Knautia degenii, known as “yaban eşekkulağı” in Turkish, grows naturally in Türkiye and the immediate vicinity. It is an annual herb with purple-violet or bluish flowers, up to 40 cm in length. It blooms between May and July and is found in fields and roadsides.
