Scientific Description:
Erect perennial, 40−80 cm. Root bearing ovoid tubers. Stem simple, glabrous with a few leaves. Basal leaves with 8−25 pairs of large leaflets; large leaflets 0.5−2 cm, glabrous, ciliate on the margin, pinnatifid and narrowly toothed. Inflorescence 4−10 cm, wider than long. Sepals 1−15 mm, reflexed after flowering. Petals 6 or sometimes 5, 4−9 mm, purplish beneath, clawed. Achenes 3−4 mm, erect, pubescent.
Flowering time: May−July.
Habitat: Dry grassland, s.l.−1950 m.

Public Description:
Filipendula vulgaris, commonly known as “common dropwort” or “fern-leaf dropwort”, is native to Europe, central and northern Asia. It is a perennail herb with white flowers, and grows up to 80 cm in length. It blooms between May and July and is found in dry grassland. Its flowers are used in the treatment of rheumatism, gout and fever in the traditional Austrian medicine.
