Scientific Description:
Annual, 10−40 cm, moderately pseudo-dichotomously branched from base or middle part of stem. Leaves 3−6 cm long, 1−2 mm broad, ± linear. Rays (3−)4(−5), very unequal, 3−25 mm, 1/4−2/5 as long as peduncles. Bracts 3(−4), ½ or more as long as longest ray, 7−12(−20) mm. Bracteoles 5, ovate to elliptic, convex, apiculate, arista 1.2−2.5 mm, finely serrate, 3-veined with well-developed internal and external veinlets, 6−9 mm, herbaceous in major part, with a sulphur-yellow brilliance at flowering. Petals yellowish, 0.9−1.25 mm, irregularly lobulate-dentate especially apically, bend irregularly 4-lobed, inflexed lobe narrow, bifid. Anthers 0.4 mm. Stylopodium 0.5−0.75 mm broad, styles 0.5 mm. Fruit 2.2−2.4 mm, smooth, ridges filiform.
Flowering time: June−July.
Habitat: Steppe, dry open habitats, on calcareous soil, secondarily as a segetal weed, 400−1500 m.

Public Description:
Bupleurum sulphureum, is an endemic species for Türkiye and known as “ters şeytanayağı” in Turkish.
It is an annual plant with yellowish flowers and grows up to 40 cm in length. It blooms between June and July and is found in steppe, dry open habitats, on calcareous soil and secondarily as a segetal weed.
