Scientific Description:
Plants with single leaf at base and small roundish tubers. Spike narrowly cylindrical, lax, many-flowered. Sepals fused to form a closed hood. Labellum 3-lobed, ligulate, bent backwards. Spur broadly conical, notched at apex. Column short, anther obtuse. Pollinia 2, each attached by a short caudicle to a viscid gland, both glands enclosed in a single pouch (bursicula). Ovary cylindrical, sessile, slightly twisted, glabrous. – Monotypic.

Public Description:
Steveniella, commonly known as “takkelisalep”, is native to Iran, Türkiye, Crimea and the Caucasus. There is only 1 species both in the world and Türkiye. It is a perennial herb with a characteristic single leaf at base and small roundish tubers.
