Public Description:

Rosa, is a genus of shrubs, commonly known as “rose”, and is mostly native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwestern Africa. There are approximately 366 species in the world and 31 species (34 taxa) in Türkiye. They have sweet-smelling flowers and edible fruits. Their fruits are used for making jam, jelly, marmalade, and soup or are brewed for tea, for their high vitamin C content. Also, fruits are used to produce rose oil which is used in skin and makeup products and perfumery. In Türkiye, rose water obtained from these plants are used in some desserts such as güllaç (a kind of Turkish sweet, including rice wafers, milk, sugar, pomegranate, pistachio), Turkish delight, baklava, halva and kanafeh. Roses are the most well known ornamental plant, especially as an outdoor plant. It is also used against stomach problems.
