Scientific Description:
Perennials, rarely biennials or annuals, hemiparasitic. Leaves alternate, opposite or whorled, pinnatifid or 1−2-pinnatisect. Flowers in terminal bracteate spike-like racemes. Calyx tubular to ovate, ± bilabiate, 5-lobed. Corolla bilabiate, purplish, yellow or white; upper lip galeate, rostrate or not; lower lip 3-lobed. Stamens 4; anthers mucronate or not, glabrous; filaments glabrous or villous. Capsule compressed; seeds numerous, reticulate or costate.
Public Description:
Pedicularis, is a genus of perennial, rarely biennial or annual hemiparasitic plants, commonly known as “lousewort”, and is mostly naturally grown in very humid northern temperate regions. The highest diversity is in eastern Asia, with 352 species accepted in China alone. There are approximately 484 species in the world and 11 species (14 taxa) in Türkiye. They have purplish, yellow or white flowers.
