Scientific Description:

Ascending, much-branched herbaceous perennials. Leaves imparipinnate, petiolate; stipules herbaceous, sagittate. Inflorescence a many-flowered, pedunculate, axillary raceme; bracts c. 4 mm, linear. Calyx campanulate with 5 subequal teeth. Corolla white to purple, the standard, wings and subobtuse keel equal. Stamens monadelphous. Fruit a narrowly cylindrical legume, slightly contracted between the seeds.

Public Description:

Galega is a genus of much-branched perennial herbaceous plant, known as “professor-weed”, and is native to central and southern Europe, western Asia and tropical east Africa. There are 5 species in the world and 1 species (1 taxon) in Türkiye. They have erect racemes of flowers in shades of white, pink, blue or mauve.
