Public Description:

Galega officinalis, known as “professor-weed”, is native to the Middle East, but it has been naturalized in Europe and western Asia. It is a perennial plant with white to lilac or purple flowers, and grows up to 150 cm in length. It blooms between June and September and is found in shrub, woodland and wet places. The genus name is derived from the Greek terms, “gala” meaning “milk” and “aigos” meaning “goat”, it is believed that it increases milk production in livestock when eaten. In traditional, it was used for plague and hastening skin healing. It has very good inhibitory activation against some skin pathogens.
