Public Description:

Digitalis, commonly known as “foxglove”, is a herbaceous biennials, perennials and shrubs. They are native to western and southwestern Europe, western and central Asia, Australasia and northwestern Africa. There are approximately 25 species in the world and 8 species (10 taxa) in Türkiye. Although the foxgloves are quite poisonous plants, the cardiac glycosides contained in their contents are used in the manufacture of heart medicines. Foxgloves can be used for cut flowers, however due to the toxicity this may be inappropriate for homes with cats or children. Once the usefulness of digitalis in regulating pulse was understood, it was employed for a variety of purposes, including the treatment of epilepsy and other seizure disorders.
