Scientific Description:
Annual (in Türkiye). Stems glabrous, quadrangular. Leaves sessile or amplexicaul, opposite or rarely whorled, dotted with brownish-red glands. Flowers axillary. Calyx deeply 5-partite. Corolla rotate, usually blue or red. Stamens with bearded filaments. Capsule globose, circumscissile.

Public Description:
Anagallis, commonly known as “pimpernel”, is a genus of herbaceous annual or perennial plants and mostly native to Türkiye and western Europe. There are approximately 34 species in the world and 3 species (6 taxa) in Türkiye. They usually have small flowers in blue or red color and their leaves are sessile and oppositely arranged.
