Public Description:

Agrimonia, is a genus of perennial herbaceous plants, commonly known as “agrimony”, and is native to the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, with one species also in Africa. There are 18 species in the world and 2 species (4 taxa) in Türkiye. The name “Agrimony” is derived from “Argemone”, a word given by the Greeks to plants which were “healing to the eyes”. The ancient Greeks used these plants to treat eye diseases, gall bladder, liver and kidney disorders. Agrimony contains tannins (astringent chemicals) and has the effect of stopping diarrhea.
