Scientific Description:

Creeping herb. Vegetative stems 310 cm long, 12 mm diam., puberulent; flowering stems unbranched, erect, 530 cm, puberulent and often glandular. Lower leaves shortly petiolate (petiole 15 mm), upper sessile; lamina oblong-lanceolate to ovate, 825 × 513 mm, subglabrous, obtuse, margin subentire or slightly serrulate-crenate. Raceme 1035-flowered, with short curved hairs and often also with patent glandular hairs. Pedicels 25 mm, 0.51(1.5) × bracts. Calyx lobes 4, ovate. Corolla white, blue or pink, with purple or dark blue veins (except on lower lobe), 58 mm diam. Style 2.53 mm. Capsule 2.53.5 × 45.5 mm, not overtopping calyx, glandular-ciliate, otherwise subglabrous, sinus acute (0.170.22 × capsule length), base truncate. Seeds numerous, 0.70.9 × 0.50.7 mm.

 

Flowering time: April−July.

Habitat: River banks, wet places, moist meadows, shady forests, s.1.2200 m.

Public Description:

Veronica serpyllifolia, common name “Thyme-leaved Speedwell”, can be found on most continents (Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, South America). It is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows up to 30 cm in height. The flowers are blue, or white with blue or purple stripes. Its blooming is between April and July and lives in river banks, wet places, moist meadows and shady forests.
