Scientific Description:

Perennial, 40−100 cm. Stems l (−3), branched or unbranched above. Lower leaves usually very long, up to 16 cm, 3-pinnatisect; upper smaller, pinnatipartite or 2-pinnatisect; laciniae linear-filiform, aristate or mucronulate, 0.5−1 cm. Capitula 6 to numerous, radiate, 1−1.5 cm broad (excl. ligules), laxly corymbose on long or short, unequal peduncles. Phyllaries glabrescent or puberulent; outer broadly triangular-acute, without membranous margins; inner oblong, ± obtuse, with pale brown or whitish membranous margins. Receptacle large, broadly ovoid or hemispherical. Ligules 8−10 mm; corolla lobes of disc flowers glandular at tips. Achenes obovoid-oblong, 1.5−2 × 1−1.3 mm, ± incurved, whitish or brownish at maturity, non-mucilaginous, anteriorly smooth, posteriorly 3-ribbed, ribs thick, white; corona absent; glands tending to coalesce at tip of achene.

 

Flowering time: May−July.

Habitat: Forest, roadsides, etc., 1050−1730 m.

Public Description:

Tripleurospermum tenuifolium, commonly known as “saçaklı beybunik” in Turkish, is native to Türkiye, Caucasus, southeastern Europe from Germany to Bulgaria. It is a biennial and rarely perennial flowering plant, and grows up to 100 cm high. It blooms between May and July, and can be found at hedges, roadsides and in cultivated fields. It is used in traditional Turkish medicine as an anti-inflammatory plant in the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
