Scientific Description:
Erect or ascending annual, 20‒40 cm. Leaflets 0.8‒1.0 cm, obovate, the terminal leaflets stalked. Inflorescence 0.8‒0.9 cm, hemispherical, 8‒20-flowered. Flowers yellow becoming brownish; pedicels c. 1 mm, erect, becoming recurved. Calyx 1.5‒2.0 mm, glabrous. Corolla 3‒4 mm, standard folded.
Flowering time: May−September.
Habitat: Sandy places, edges of pasture, 100−1300 m.

Public Description:
Trifolium dubium, known as “the lesser trefoil, suckling clover”, is native Europe, including Britain, from Sweden south and east to Spain and the Caucasus. This is an annual plant with yellow or brownish flowers, growing to 0.5 m. The nectar-rich flowers are a good food source for bees and butterflies. It is in flower from May to September, and generally found in sandy places, edges of pasture.
