Pilosella hoppeana (Schultes) C.H.&F.W. Schultz - Er Tırnakotu (in Turkish)
Scientific Description:
Stolons few, short, thick. Leaves numerous, oblanceolate to oblong, with numerous simple eglandular hairs and dense stellate hairs below and rarely above. Flowering stems up to 40 cm, scapose, each with a single capitulum. Phyllaries 6−14 × 1−3.5 mm, outer ovate to linear-lanceolate, inner lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, abruptly or gradually narrowed to obtuse or subacute apex, with dense stellate hairs and simple eglandular or glandular hairs, or both. Outer ligules usually with a dark red stripe on outer face.
subsp. troica (Zahn) Sell & West
Glandular hairs on involucre up to 0.5(−0.75) mm, yellowish at least in upper part, bases not stout.
Flowering time: May−October.
Habitat: Coniferous forest, pastures, rocky slopes, 350−2150 m.

Public Description:
Pilosella hoppeana subsp. troica, known as “er tırnakotu” in Turkish, is distributed in Türkiye, Balkans, Central Europe to North Italy. It is a perennial herbaceous plant with a yellow color and dark red striped flowers on its outer surface, and grows up to 40 cm in length. It blooms between May and October and is found in pine forest, grassland and rocky slopes.
