Leonurus quinquelobatus Gilib. - Five-bladed Motherwort

Scientific Description:

Like Leonurus glaucescens Bunge, but stems and leaves densely villous, hairs 1−2 mm on stems, 0.5−0.7 mm on leaves; terminal lobe of median leaves distinctly larger than lateral ones; calyx 6−9 mm, tube c. 4.5 mm; corolla 10.5−12 mm.

 

Flowering time: August.

Habitat: Hedges, etc., 800−2100 m.

Public Description:

Leonurus quinquelobatus, known as “five-bladed motherwort”, is distributed in Europe, the Caucasus, Western and Eastern Siberia, and Western Asia. It is a perennial herbaceous plant with pale purplish flowers, and grows up to 75 cm in length. It blooms August and is found in hedges.  It is used for vessels, the initial stage of hypertension, hiperthyroidy and epilepsy.
