Scientific Description:
Bulb not surrounded by fibrous roots. Basal leaves linear, canaliculate; bulbils usually absent. Flowers 3-8(-19). Perianth segments c. 12 mm, oblong-lanceolate, obtuse, not deflexed, puberulent outside and bearded at apex.
Flowering time: February−May.
Habitat: Dry, open places.

Public Description:
Gagea dubia, known as “eryıldız” in Turkish, is native to Türkiye, Morocco, Spain, France, Sardinia, Sicily, Greece, Crete, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran. It is a perennial plant with very small pale brown crusted bulbs under the soil and small yellow flowers. It blooms between February and May and is found in dry open places.
