Scientific Description:
Stems (l−)5−20(−30) cm. Indumentum adpressed, greyish-white throughout plant. Leaves 10−20 × 1.5−3(−4) mm, linear to oblong-lanceolate, ± undulate at margin. Clusters of capitula 8−10 mm broad, subglobose, usually overtopped by subtending leaves. Inner paleae 5−8, 2−3 mm in fruit. Hermaphrodite flowers 3−5, whitish with reddish limb. Achenes 1.3 × 1 mm, pale brown to grey.
Flowering time: April−May.
Habitat: Open dry pastures, scrubby slopes, roadsides, nr. s.l.−1400 m.

Public Description:
Bombycilaena erecta, known as “diri kısaayaklı” in Turkish, is distributed in southern Europe and southern parts of central Europe, North Africa and Southwest Asia. It is an annual herbaceous plant with white flowers, and grows up to 20 cm in length. It is covered with dense white hairs that give a woolly appearance. It blooms between April and May and is found in open dry pastures, scrubby slopes and roadsides.
