Scientific Description:
Bulb ovoid, 0.8−1.5 cm diam.; outer tunics black. Stem 15−40 cm, slender. Leaves narrowly semiterete, 2−3 mm broad, channelled, fistulose, multistriate, shorter than stem. Spathe membranous, 10−12 mm, ovate, shortly acuminate, soon torn. Umbel globose, 1.5−2(−2.5) cm diam. Pedicels 2−3 mm, slightly unequal. Perianth oblong-campanulate; segments 6 mm, outer ones purple, scabrid, oblong subobtuse, inner whitish with purplish tip, oblong-spathulate, very obtuse, upper part cristate with small teeth. Inner filaments ciliolate at base; median cusp short, lateral cusps elongate, slightly exserted. Capsule 3−4 mm, pale brown, shorter than persistent perianth.
Flowering time: May−June.
Habitat: Calcareous rocks, 200−1000 m.

Public Description:
Allium jubatum, common name “sülün soğanı” in Turkish, is distributed in Central Bulgaria and Northwest Turkey. It is a perennial bulbous plant with purple flowers up to 40 cm in lenght. It blooms between May and June and is found in calcareous rocks.
