Scientific Description:

Height 15−70 cm. Rootstock without stolons. Stems terete, longitudinally striped, ± densely adpressed or spreading-pilose. Involucre and peduncles with loose indumentum of short ± spreading hairs. Leaves loosely or densely woolly-pubescent, cauline similar to basal; basal 2−3-pinnatipartite, oblong-lanceolate, 2−10 × 1−3 cm, rachis usually dentate; median cauline ovate-oblong to broadly ovate, 2−5 × 1−3 cm, primary segments ± regularly 1-pinnatifid to 1-pinnatisect. Capitula 50−150 and more, corymbs 2−10 cm broad, peduncles (0.5−)1−4 mm. Involucre broadly obovoid to oblong, 3−3.5 × 2−3 mm. Phyllaries triangular-lanceolate and acute, to oblong and obtuse, sparsely hairy to densely woolly-shaggy. Ligules (in our subsp.) 3−5, pale yellow above, white below, 0.8−1.5(−2) mm; disc flowers 10−25.

Height 30−60 cm; median cauline leaves oblong-ovate, 2−5 × 1−3 cm, with 6−8 pairs of primary segments, rachis 0.7−1 mm, leaves distant; internodes 2−4 cm; involucre obovoid, 3−3.5 × 2−2.5 mm.

 

Flowering time: June−August.

Habitat: Forest, steppe, rocky igneous and volcanic slopes, meadows, fallow fields, 400−2350 m.

Public Description:

Achillea nobilis subsp. neilreichii, known as “noble yarrow”, is distributed in Eurasia. It is a perennial herb with creamy-whitish or yellow flowers, and grows up to 60 cm in length. It blooms between June and August and is found in forest, steppe, rocky igneous and volcanic slopes, meadows and fallow fields.
