Public Description:
Phlomis, commonly known as “lampwick plant” or “Jerusalem sage”, is native from the Mediterranean region east across central Asia to China. There are approximately 113 species in the world and 46 species (55 taxa) in Türkiye. The name “Phlomis” derives from a Greek word “flame”, and may refer to the leaves use in ancient times as lamp wicks. They are herbaceous plants, subshrubs and shrubs with usually densely hairy stems, and have purple, pink or yellow flowers.
