Scientific Description:
Annual or perennial herbs or rarely subshrubs, often densely caespitose or mat-forming. Leaves exstipulate, lanceolate to linear or setaceous. Inflorescence terminal, composed of (1−)3−50-flowered cymes or ± remote cymose clusters. Sepals 5, free, herbaceous or with 2 parallel white stripes on either side of the mid-vein, usually ± equally 3−9-veined, occasionally with 1 mid-vein and obscure laterals, rarely obscurely veined. Petals 5, sometimes extremely small, rarely absent, white or rarely pink, entire or rarely retuse. Stamens (3−)10, the outer whorl with obsolete, single or bifid basal glands. Styles 3. Capsule opening by 3 valves; seeds dark brown, rarely straw-coloured, exstrophiolate.

Public Description:
Minuartia is a genus of annual or perennial herbs known as "sandworts". It is widely distributed in the northern hemisphere, and naturally grows in Asia, Europe and North America. There are approximately 108 species in the world and 50 species (76 taxa) in Türkiye. Sandworts are small plants which grow in otherwise inhospitable conditions such as on rocky ledges and in stony soil. They are found in arctic and alpine environments.
