LAPSANA L. - NIPPLEWORT
Scientific Description:
Annual to perennial herbs, glabrous or with simple eglandular and/or glandular hairs. Stems usually solitary, rarely several, branched. Leaves entire to lobed. Capitula numerous, homogamous, ligulate, pedunculate. Phyllaries 2-seriate, outer few, small and scale-like. Receptacle flat, without paleae. Flowers yellow. Achenes oblong, terete or slightly compressed, with c. 20 ribs, deciduous. Pappus absent.

Lapsana is a genus of annual or perennial herbs, known as “nipplewort”, is native to Europe and northern Asia. There are 6 species in the world and 2 species (6 taxa) in Türkiye. They have yellow flowers.
