Public Description:
Helleborus, commonly known as “hellebores”, are herbaceous perennial flowering plants, are native to much of Europe and along the north coast of Türkiye into the Caucasus. There are approximately 13 species in the world and 2 species (2 taxa) in Türkiye. In addition to their medical features, Hellebores have been cultivated in the gardens since ancient times as ornamental plants. Hellebores are filled with alkaloid toxins and have been used both as a poison and as a purgative.
