DORONICUM L. - FALSE LEOPARD'S BANE
Scientific Description:
Perennial herbs with a short usually horizontal rhizome. Basal leaves, when present, ovate-cordate or oblong, petiolate; cauline leaves shortly petiolate to sessile, amplexicaul. Capitula heterogamous, radiate, solitary or, more often, several to numerous on branched stems. Involucre depressed-hemispherical; phyllaries 2−3-seriate, subequal, herbaceous. Receptacle convex, pilose. Ray flowers yellow, ligulate. Disc flowers tubular, yellow. Achenes oblong-turbinate, 10-ribbed, those of ray flowers usually epappose, those of disc flowers usually bearing a pappus of finely scabrous hairs.

Public Description:
Doronicum is a genus of perennial herbs, known as “false leopard's bane”, and is native to Europe, southwest Asia and Siberia. There are approximately 39 species in the world and 14 species (15 taxa) in Türkiye. They produce yellow, daisy-like flowerheads in spring and summer. Certain aromatic tonics are obtained from the roots of some species and are used in the treatment of nervous depression diseases.
