Scientific Description:

Non-spiny shrubs. Leaves 3-foliolate and petiolate; stipules absent. Flowers in leafy racemes or heads. Calyx distinctly tubular with a prominent upper and lower lip; the upper lip with two short teeth, the lower lip with three usually indistinct teeth. Corolla yellow or rarely white; the standard sometimes brown spotted, larger than the wings and keel and tapering into an elongate claw. Stamens monadelphous. Legume narrowly oblong, several-seeded. Seeds strophiolate.

Public Description:

Cytisus is a genus of non-spiny shrubs known as “broom” and is native to Europe, Western Asia and North Africa. There are approximately 73 species in the world and 16 species (16 taxa) in Türkiye. These plants have yellow or rarely white flowers which are often highly fragrant.
